IN MEMORIAM PLACIDE TEMPELS (only available in French) by HERMAN BURSSENS. Unpublished text, written in Dutch in 1977 or 1978. Herman Burssens (1927-2016) was professor of the history of African arts and cultures at the University of Ghent, Belgium. He was the son of Amaat Burssens (1897-1983), one of the founders of the African Studies program at the University of Ghent and editor-in-chief of the "Kongo-Overzee Bibliotheek", which ensured the Dutch edition of "Bantoe-Filosofie" of 1946 (full text here). CONCERNING TEMPELS's LA PHILOSOPHIE BANTOUE (English introduction and presentation; text itself only available in French) by Mgr. VICTOR ROELENS, published in Courier d'Afrique on 11 October 1946 as well as in Grands Lacs on 15 March 1947.
